What types of images can I use with RealTime optimization?
GIF, JPG, BMP, and animated GIFs are optimized, and can be edited. All other data files like MOV, PDF, and MP3, can be cached for faster delivery by the OptiView network.
Are there any images I shouldn't optimization with RealTime?
Tiny images (like single pixels) that are under 100 bytes and are repeated many times on a page should be left as is. There is little compression to be gained and the additional URL text will outweigh any image compression savings. Otherwise, every image is a candidate for RealTime optimization.
How do I change my URLs to use OptiView RealTime optimization?
The SRC= tag needs to have two items added, a reference to our cache servers and your account number. After "http://" add cache.c.optiview.com/ then your account number surrounded by colons :654321: and then a final slash / between the account number and your server name.
SRC="http://www.mysite.com/image.jpg" becomes:
SRC="http://cache.c.optiview.com/:654321:/www.mysite.com/image.jpg"
Can I use my account for multiple Web sites?
Yes. Any Web site you register for an OptiView service can use RealTime optimization.
If my account number is in my URLs, can anyone use my account?
No. Sites that are not registered to your account that use your account number are redirected back to their own server with no charge to your account.
How is usage charged?
The total bandwidth, including TCP overhead, is recorded for each transaction and charged against your purchased bandwidth. The transaction includes fetching new graphics from your server, if required. This is equivilant to an ISP measurement of the bandwidth passing through a router dedicated to your Web site.
How do I know how much purchased bandwidth I have left?
Anytime you visit our site, the bandwidth remaining is shown in the top navigation bar.
What if my purchased bandwidth starts to run out?
We will send you email alerting you. Also, if you have purchased bandwidth using the "purchase as needed" option, we will make an automatic purchase for you and refill your account.
Does usage expire?
No. You can use your purchased bandwidth as quickly or as slowly as you like.
Does RealTime optimization take advantage of "IF-MODIFIED-SINCE" to reduce bandwidth usage?
Yes. In both the "browser to server" and "server to server" communications the modified times are tracked and HTTP/1.1 compliant responses are generated.
Does RealTime optimization work over https: and SSL connections?
Yes. https://cache.c.optiview.com/ will serve all of the content securely and without certificate error messages.
How is bandwidth purchased?
In blocks from 1,000 to 1,000,000 megabytes (thats a full terabyte!) You can purchase by credit card (American Express, JCB, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover), check, money order, or purchase order.

What does it cost to use RealTime optimization?
3 to 6 cents per megabyte of bandwidth used, which is about 1/10 of a cent per page view for an average Web site. For secure SSL content, the charge is doubled to cover higher processing and bandwidth requirements of secure connections.
What browsers does OptiView RealTime work with?

What resizing and other options are available and how do I use them?
